Ten Ways to Increase Your Sweepstakes Odds
Following are some strategies for maximizing your odds of winning
sweepstakes where the winners are chosen by random drawing:
- Enter the sweepstakes as often as the rules allow
Many sweepstakes allow one entry per day, and each entry will
increase your chances of winning.
- Enter as many sweepstakes as you can
Increase your odds of winning at least one sweepstakes by having
entries in many of them.
- Focus on sweepstakes that are not well known or are offered
by smaller companies
Most sweepstakes rules state that the odds of winning depend on
the number of entries received. Sweepstakes that are not as well
known will have fewer entries, increasing your odds of winning.
- Find sweepstakes early
For those sweepstakes that allow daily entries, the earlier you
find them and start entering, the more entries you will have.
- Focus on sweepstakes that only allow one entry per person
Sweepstakes that only allow one entry per person or per household
will have fewer entries, and eliminate the advantages given to
those people who knew about the contest sooner and would have
had several more entries if they had been allowed to enter every
- Have your entire family enter
Spouses and other family members will likely share their prizes
with you. Just make sure each person is eligible to enter and
that there isn't a limit of one entry per household.
- Focus on Flash based sweepstakes
Flash is a web technology that allows sweepstakes to have animation.
This technology also is very good and blocking out automated entries
from people who use automated entry software. You can usually
tell if a sweepstakes is using Flash if you right-click on the
sweepstakes and a special menu appears with the last option starting
with something similar to: About Adobe Flash ...
- Refer friends when you can
Many sweepstakes will give you extra entries if you forward the
sweepstakes to your friends. Plan ahead and form a referral
circle with your friends and family members to take advantage
of these extra entries.
- Form a group of friends that will enter contests together
and split the winnings
Lottery pools are pretty popular, where many people enter together
as a team to increase their odds of winning and then split any
prizes. Try the same thing with sweepstakes and you get the benefits
of a lottery pool without the costs of buying lottery tickets.
- Karma and good luck
It may not really help, but it can't hurt. Do good things and
good things might come back to you. Lucky socks, hats, and horseshoes
may just give you the edge you need.
