Volvo - Journey to the Wedding

The first challenge in the Volvo Journey to the Wedding contest has begun. Volvo has a long history of creating exciting and entertaining puzzle contests with movie tie-ins including the Pirates of the Caribbean and Twilight. Both a Pirates and a Twilight movie were released this year and Volvo chose to stick with Twilight for Breaking Dawn Part 1. This time the contest will have three challenges with a new one opening each week. You must complete each challenge, and the person to complete challenge 3 in the fastest time will win a new Volvo and a trip for two to Rio de Janiero.

Volvo Twilight Eclipse Contest

Today Volvo launches the Lost in Forks contest, a tie-in with the movie Twilight: Eclipse. Solve the puzzles and you could win a new Volvo XC60. Last year Volvo held a similar contest alongside the release of the Twilight: New Moon movie. The winners used puzzle solving skills and knowledge of the Twilight series to complete the contest. Unfortunately this year Volvo seems to be repeating some of the problems from the Google and Sony Pictures The Da Vinci Code Quest, allowing several days for finalists to complete the final puzzle. In that contest less scrupulous participants used the extra time to share answers and automate entries leading to a questionable outcome.

Volvo Hunt Video Update

The grand prize gold for the Volvo Hunt still lies at the bottom of the ocean. Volvo created a video about the tangled tale of politics and sunken treasure that blocked them from retrieving the gold. Volvo Hunt Winner Update

While the Volvo Hunt website does not yet have the promised video of the prize retrieval, a few more details have emerged on the winner's status. On the official Hunt blog there is an article about the treasure retrieval being delayed due to an actual treasure find. On the unofficial blog there are pictures of the winner Alena Zvereva receiving her new Volvo from a number of pirates, and an online flash book about the making of the Hunt.

Congratulations to Alena Zvereva from Russia for winning the 2007 Volvo Hunt! Alena beat out 20 other finalist from around the world to win the sunken treasure chest filled with $50,000 in gold and the keys to a new Volvo. Volvo promises to broadcast the retrieval of the chest on the Hunt site. Click the “Winners” link on the top of the main Hunt page to see the other finalists. All players can now try to solve the final puzzles for fun, just continue to the Next Destination from World's End.

Today is the last day to register for the Volvo Hunt, and catch up on the puzzles if you haven't already. Tomorrow, May 30th 2007, at 10am Eastern Time the semi-final puzzle will open. The first person from each country to correctly solve the puzzle will move on to the final. At stake are the keys to a new Volvo and $50,000 in gold. Good Luck!

Volvo Hunt Pirate Codes Available

To join the Volvo Hunt you'll need a unique Pirate Code and Map, which you can only get by visiting your local Volvo dealership. These handouts are now available at most Volvo dealerships, although you may want to call to verify before making a trip. On the front you'll find your unique Pirate Code, while a cryptic map is on the back. Pick one up so you can be ready to play starting Friday. You can join the hunt anytime between May 4th and May 29th 2007, but the later you join the harder it will be to catch up. While you are at the Volvo dealership, check out their vehicles and thank them for sponsoring such an entertaining contest.

Volvo Hunt Starts May 4th

A sunken treasure chest filled with $50,000 in gold, and the keys to a new Volvo XC90 will be waiting for the winner of the new Volvo Hunt contest. New details were released today showing the treasure chest, which Volvo sank somewhere in the seven seas. The Hunt starts May 4th, 2007 in 22 countries, and promises to be bigger and better than last year's contest which drew over 100,000 participants.

Volvo’s entertaining “The Hunt” contest is returning with the release of Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.” Last year this swashbuckling adventure led online treasure hunters through a series of puzzles on a virtual trip around the world. Seven finalists actually participated in a live treasure hunt where the grand prize was a custom Volvo XC90. This year’s contest promises bigger prizes and more challenging puzzles.
